The Technical Materials Company are one of only a few melamine foam converters specialising in BASF manufactured melamine. A unique, flexible, open cell foam, possessing a combination of low weight, Class 1 fire specification with excellent sound absorption properties.

We have access to state of the art melamine processing equipment allowing you to shape, profile and develop the perfect acoustic solution. We specialise in high volume project work, manufacturing your acoustic solution on a mass scale.

Basotect

We couldn’t call ourselves true melamine foam converters without teaching you our BASF’s world class melamine. Basotect Melamine FoamBasotect® is a flexible, open-cell foam made from melamine resin, a thermoset polymer. Basotect® characteristic feature is its three-dimensional network structure consisting of slender and thus easily flexed filaments. These easily flexed filaments vibrate when hit with sound energy thus turning sound energy into friction, heat and kinetic energy. By converting sound energy into heat and kinetic energy prevents sound energy re-entering the room. This is how many sound absorbers work, by using Basotect we ensure this conversion is very efficient and provides the highest levels of absorption.

The unique property profile of Basotect®

  • Flame resistance no additional flame retardant treatment needed – Complies with BS476 Class 0 providing the highest levels of fire safety.
  • Application temperature up to 240 °C -Can be placed near heating systems and services.
  • Constant physical properties over a wide temperature range – Reduces warping and maintains shape
  • High sound absorption capacity -Providing up to 100% absorption within the most troublesome speech frequencies.
  • Low Weight -Only 10kg/m3 negligible strain on building the structure. Can suspend from existing ceiling grids.

Custom and Creative Processing

With its lightweight flexible and rigid structure in conjunction with our state of the art processing techniques, Basotect design potential is endless. You can not do this with mineral wool, glass wool or mineral powder based absorbers.

  • Excellent fire characteristics – In the event of a fire, the material does not melt or produce burning droplets when it comes into contact with flames. The foam simply chars and produces a small amount of smoke, and there is no afterglow, making Basotect particularly suitable for applications with high fire safety requirements. In tests on the fire characteristics required to meet national and international standards, Basotect achieves the highest classification possible for organic materials. Provides the highest BS476 Class 0 fire rating.
  • It is certified  Oeko-Tex® Standard 100 in product class I. No nasty chemicals to cause harm. Oeko – Tex 100 Standard click link to see full details.
  • Dust free – Unlike glass and mineral wool products (ISOVER, Rockwool) Basotect is free of blowing agents and is not subject to labeling requirements under the German hazardous material regulations.
  • Eco-friendliness – Basotect® is produced without using halogenated hydrocarbons, flame retardants and/or toxic heavy metals. Basotect does not contaminate water. Solutions with Basotect reduce the weight of the components, thus contributing to energy savings and to a reduction in emissions during transportation.
  • Excellent chemical resistance can be used almost anywhere.
